Longtime Texas banker, husband, father and friend James T. Denton, Jr., passed away May 26, 2008 at age 82. He was born May 23, 1926 in Lamesa, Texas and grew up in Rotan, Texas. Preceded in death by his father, James T. Denton, Sr., his mother, Zoe King Denton and his brother, Howard Denton, he is survived by his wife of 58 years Louise Denton, son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Teresa Denton, granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Kelly and Matt Woltersdorf, grandson, Thomas, granddaughter, Taylor, great-grandson, Parker Woltersdorf, brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Glenna Denton, brother Boyd Denton and numerous nieces and nephews. He retired from banking after a distinguished career that spanned 50 years which included owning and operating banks throughout Texas and mentoring his son and hundreds of bankers across the state. After his retirement, he and Louise moved to McKinney where he enjoyed emailing friends and family, fellowship with his church, the First United Methodist Church of McKinney, his coffee group and his Masonic organization. He is remembered for his great sense of humor, his kind words, his love for their ranch in Goliad County, his patriotism and the happiness he brought others. A family interment service will be held June 2, 2008 at DFW National Cemetery. On Tuesday, June 3, a celebration of life will be held at the First United Methodist Church in McKinney at 11:00 with family visitation preceding.
