James Claude Browning

James Claude Browning, age 78, of Trenton, Texas, passed away February 2, 2008 in Trenton. James was born June 15, 1929, in Durant, Oklahoma, to Clarence Arthur (Bub) and Zettie Mae (Hall) Browning. He was raised in and around Leonard, Texas and graduated from Leonard High School in 1947. James enlisted in the United States Navy that year and served until 1953. He was a veteran of the Korean War. James married Mary Louise Spencer in January 1966 in Durant, Oklahoma. He will be remembered for his love of country music, the Dallas Cowboys and playing dominoes. He is survived by son, Jim Ed Browning of Sherman Texas; two step-sons, Bill Spencer of Fruitvale, Texas and Paul Spencer and wife, Kathy of McKinney, Texas; three nieces, one nephew, seven step-grandchildren; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by one sister, Wanda May Brake, brothers, Pete and Clarence, Jr., his parents and his former wife, Mary Browning of Sherman. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February 6, 2008, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Leonard, Texas with Rev. Joe Grady Hunt of Bailey Bible Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Burns Cemetery in Trenton, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
