James Almeria Barber

February 26, 1931 - November 13, 2015

James Almeria Barber passed away on November 13, 2015 at the age of 84. He was born on February 26, 1931 to Joe Henry and Luisa Almeria Barber in the Philippines. James married Aurora Urbano Basea on April 6, 1957. He left the Philippines and moved to California in 1970 where he worked for 20 years as a building service man in Palo Alto, California before retiring in 1990. James moved to Texas in 2004. He was a great handyman, always working around the house. James enjoyed gardening and raising his chickens. He loved cooking because he loved to eat. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and loved them dearly.

James is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Aurora Barber of McKinney, Texas; son, Tyrone Barber of Tracy, California; daughter, Jacqueline Barber Martin and spouse Archie Martin of McKinney, Texas; son, Burt Barber and spouse Timothy Huizinga of Phoenix, Arizona; and daughter, Darlene Barber Bauer and spouse Brandon Bauer of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Ramon Medina, Cameron Barber, Ty Preston Barber, Lauren Martin, Taylor Martin, Kyle Martin and Nalu Martin; and sister, Lily Decena and spouse Hector Decena.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Salem Barber; and siblings, Cresenciana B. Espelita, Elisa B. Abella, Joseph A. Barber, Charlie A. Barber, Neil A. Barber, William A. Barber, Mary B. Lumibao, and Thomas A. Barber.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 21, 2015 at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, 110 St. Gabriel Way in McKinney, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening, November 20, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas with a rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m..

James was our neighbor and good friend. Every time we saw him he was smiling. He will be missed. We are praying for his family in this most difficult time, that God brings them strength and comforts their hearts. Virginia Hines, November 18, 2015
