James Arthur Lively of Celina, Texas, passed away on October 6, 2022, at the age of 79. He was born on November 27, 1942, to Preston Arthur and Mildred Dorothy (Sellers) Lively in Dallas, Texas. James graduated from Sunset High School in 1961, and after school he served his country in the United States Air Force for four years, while stationed in Oregon. After being discharged, he attended the University of Texas at Arlington where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree. James married Austene Mitchell on January 11, 1969, in Dallas, Texas. They lived in Dallas before moving to Palestine, Texas, for several years, then returned to the Dallas area and lived together in Celina for over 40 years. James worked in the exotic lumber industry for his entire career. His memory will live on through his family and many of his beautiful paintings that cover the walls of the family home. He was active in several sports and especially enjoyed playing tennis during his air force days. James was devoted lifelong Christian.
James is survived by his wife, Austene Lively; sons, Kit Lively and wife, Julie, Mark Lively and wife, Molly; grandchildren, Grant, Ian, Dylan, and Megan Lively; sister, Carroll Boyd; nephews, John Boyd and Bryce Boyd; and numerous other loving family and friends.
James was preceded in death by Mildred and Preston Lively.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 22, 2022 at First United Methodist Church, 315 North Church Street, McKinney, Texas.
