James Andrew Chapman

James Chapman, 85, passed away peacefully into the presence of the LORD on September 2, 2026, in Frisco, Texas.

He was delivered into this world in a rural area near the small town of Sedan, Kansas on November 9. 1940. He was the 4th of 12 children born to James Luther Chapman and Myrtle Louise Swisher.

His family moved many times during his childhood and he attended many schools in Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.

He joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 16 and enjoyed a four-year career at sea as a Radioman, on two different ships, USS Dealy and the USS Maury as well as serving in the Navy Reserves until March 1964. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in March of 1964.

He married Gerald Dean Calvert in April 1963 in Kansas City, Missouri. They were gifted with two wonderful children, Cheryl Renee’ and James Lee. They lived in Tulsa, OK, Sapulpa, Ok, Columbus, Ohio and Mustang, OK.

He married Midge McCann in October of 1980.

Later, He married Anita Marie Foreman in May 1995 in Meeker, Oklahoma. They traveled extensively throughout the United States until Anita passed away in 2016. He then became the caregiver to his first wife, Gerald Dean Higginbottom, until she passed away in 2021.

He worked for 42 years in the telecommunications industry; 31 years with Western Electric/A.T.& T and 11 years with TelPro Technologies. Later he worked for 13 years with Walmart, before finally retiring in 2016.

James was an avid OU and OKC Sparks softball fan. He also enjoyed rock cutting and polishing and was a licensed pilot.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, six brothers, Raymond, Howard, Charles, Frank, Jerry, Robert, three sisters, Jean, Barbara, Elizabeth as well as son James Lee, his first wife, Gerald Dean, second wife Midge and third wife Anita.

He is survived by his sister, Delores Sherwood of Post Fall, ID, brother, Johnny Chapman, of Bowling Green, MO, daughter, Renee’ Taylor (Greg) of Frisco, TX, Son, Marcus Andrew McCann Chapman (Katie) of Rohnert Park, CA, grandchildren Robbie Arnold (Jessica) of Sapulpa, OK, Skyler Arnold (Alena) of the U.S. Air Force, Mason Taylor (Aaron) of El Paso, Tx, Samuel Taylor (Michelle) of Bethlehem, PA, great grandchildren Isabella Inez Arnold, Jesse James Dean Arnold and Oliver Andrew Arnold of Sapulpa, OK.

As well as Stepsons David Greer of Meeker, OK, Russell Williamson of Tacoma, WA, Stepdaughters Treva Renee’ Williamson of Tacoma, WA and Danette (Carl) of Tacoma, WA. And numerous nieces and nephews.

James will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched and through the generations of his family who will carry his memory forward.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 18, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Frisco Funeral Home Chapel, 8520 Main St, Frisco, TX, 75033.
