It is with profound sorrow that we announce that our beloved son, brother, friend, and teammate Jackson Walker Mitchell passed away on Thursday October 16th, 2025, in Celina, Texas. Jackson was 16 years old.
For such a young man, Jackson had a rare and wonderful conviction to deeply held values. He lived a life of dedication and loyalty to his friends and family with selflessness, dedicated to the needs of others, especially those who needed a friend. He also never separated what he said he was going to do from what he did. This spirit characterized his life and is present in the memories of all who knew him.
Jackson was born at Medical City Dallas Hospital on April 17th, 2009, to Gregg and Christi (Walker) Mitchell. He lived in Texas his entire life. Before he turned 1 year old, Jackson was impressively precocious. His intense focus and curiosity led him to be articulate well beyond his years, astounding the adults around him. Jackson could ask meaningful questions before he could walk. As a small child, adults were drawn to not only his striking blue eyes but also his emotional intelligence, maturity, and encyclopedic knowledge of sports statistics and world events. Jackson also loved to build with Legos, read books every day, and played sports from the time he was 18 months old.
As he grew into a teenager, Jackson felt immediately welcomed to the community of Celina. A sophomore at Celina High School, Jackson was a dedicated student and a member of the Dallas Hornets club soccer team, Celina High School Bobcats JV football team, and Celina High School Varsity Soccer team.
Jackson understood that as a disciplined athlete, his job was not just to help his teammates succeed but also to uplift others. His acts of service extended from welcoming new kids in Celina to his home to paying for others’ school lunches if they had a need. His favorite professional sports teams were the Kansas City Chiefs and Manchester City. He also had a passion for the University of Texas, University of Missouri, Dutch, Hornets, and especially the Bobcats.
By his family, Jackson was lovingly called Jack, Jackie, Jack-jack, Mitch, Little man, Bubby, Buddy, and Jack-O. We will miss his smile, his humor, and sensitive spirit.
