Jack Maurice Younse, PhD of Allen, Texas passed away February 8, 2020 at the age of 82. He was born on November 8, 1937 to Maurice Younse and Mary (Shafer) Younse Willeford in Gladewater, Texas. Jack graduated from Southern Methodist University where he obtained a Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering. Early in his career, Jack worked with the Southwest Center for Advanced Studies in Dallas, Texas, where he helped develop two satellites that were launched on Apollo missions. He was then employed with Texas Instruments for over thirty years where he worked in Research and Development and was known internationally for his work in optics. Jack married his high school sweetheart Faith Marie Roush in 1959 in Gladewater, Texas. He was a faithful member and deacon of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Faith Younse of Allen, Texas; sons, Stuart Younse and spouse, Charles E. Harrill of Hartford, Connecticut and Philip Younse of Kansas City, Missouri.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice Younse and Mary Willeford.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
