Jack Winston Holmes went home to be with the Lord on April 1, 2023 in Fairview, Texas at the age of 87. He was born on August 21, 1935 in McCamey, Texas to Winston O. Holmes and Lucy Ellen Holmes. He married the love of his life, Sandra McIntyre on August 28, 1958 in Big Lake, Texas.
He graduated from Reagan County High School in Big Lake, Texas where he played football and ran track. Jack served in the US Army and then worked in law enforcement his entire adult life. He worked for the Highway Patrol and the US Immigration Service. After retirement, Jack continued to teach at the Border Patrol Academy.
Jack was committed to his Christian faith and remained active in his church his entire life. He also enjoyed woodworking, and he continued to grow in woodworking skills throughout his life. Additionally, Jack always seemed to have a dog around. He enjoyed his dogs, and they enjoyed him.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Holmes of Fairview, Texas; son, Mark L. Holmes of McKinney, Texas; son, Brian Holmes and wife Melanie of Fairview, Texas; son, Greg Holmes and wife, Kelly of Allen, Texas; 8 grandchildren; brother, Roy Alford Holmes and wife, Glyneth of Grandberry, Texas and sister, Doris Matranga of San Antonio, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Winston O. Holmes and Lucy Ellen Holmes; sister, Jeannine Ham and brother, Mike Holmes.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April, 15, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
