John Reynolds Miller, aka Jack Miller - dedicated husband, father, papa, cousin, and friend - passed away in Celina, Texas on May 17th, 2024 just after turning 75 years of age to a hard-fought battle with MDS (Myelodysplastic syndrome), surrounded by his family. Throughout his battle, he never lost his will to live and his sense of humor. He was a true example of strength and courage and living life to its fullest.
Jack was born on April 12, 1949 to John Ronald and Vivian in Cleveland, Ohio and grew up with his two brothers, Gene and Greg. Jack loved his country and loved serving in the United States Army as a Sergeant. He started his military career at Fort Ord in California and then was stationed in Korea for 13 months on the DMZ. His love was so deep for serving, when 9/11 occurred, he tried to re-enlist to serve for his country once again, even though at that time he was 52 years old!
Jack had a very long career in the food and beverage industry, starting at 7up bottling company. He ended his career at California Custom Fruits and Flavors in the City of Industry as Director of Operations. He was a very hard worker and was an expert in his industry, and didn't mind chatting with everyone who would listen about his industry and his contributions.
His greatest and most proud accomplishment aside from his military service was his family. He married the love of his life, Kathi, on May 22, 1976. He had three children: Wendy, John and Jenna. Their family grew to include Mike Jackson, Mandie Miller and Paul Esquer. He also had seven grandchildren that were his pride and joy: Jacoby, John Riley, Joshua, Kylin, Madilyn, Lyla, and Nolan.
Jack enjoyed all kinds of sports, but mainly football and baseball. He loved coaching and attending his kids or grandkids games as well as local team games. He also greatly enjoyed karaoke at local restaurants and bars where he could showcase his love for singing, dinners with family and friends, poker, and attending concerts.
He spent most of his life living in different cities within California, but moved to Celina, Texas just a few years ago. He absolutely LOVED living in Texas and considered himself a proud Texan.
Jack is survived by his wife, Kathi; their children Mike and Wendy Jackson, John and Mandie Miller and Paul and Jenna Esquer; and his seven grandchildren: Jacoby, John Riley, Joshua, Kylin, Madilyn, Lyla, and Nolan as well as his brothers Gene and Greg Miller.
