Mr. Jack L. Eaker, age 73 of McKinney, TX, passed away December 13, 2004 in McKinney. He was born April 19, 1931 in Greenville, TX to Jack E. and Caroline (Connor) Eaker. On September 13, 1952, he married Connie Holt in Dallas, TX. In 1951. Mr. Eaker was a retired banker. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Stephanie Potous- Eaker of Erie, PA, Jay and Diana Eaker of Richardson, TX, Joseph Eaker of McKinney, and John and Lisa Eaker of Austin, TX; granddaughters, Jillian Amanda Eaker of Richardson, TX, Emma Caroline Eaker of Austin, TX and Olivia Constance Eaker of Austin, TX; sister, Sarah Peek and husband, Harold of Dallas, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Connie Holt Eaker. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 16, 2004, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM Wednesday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. A native Texan, Jack L. Eaker was born in Waco, raised in Greenville, and educated at East Texas State University in Commerce. In 1954 started as an adjuster with Floyd West and Company and began his involvement with the Insurance affiliate of the League in 1965. During the years he held executive positions with the League’s Insurance affiliate and in 1976 was Named First Vice President of the Texas Credit Union League & Affiliates. From 1979-1989 Jack served as President of the Texas Credit Union League & Affiliates He retired as President of the Texas Credit Union League and Affiliates on October 5, 1989 after a long career of pioneering work with the credit union movement. His illustrious career included numerous key leadership roles and committee memberships, including: Chairman Of the Board U.S. Central Credit Union Chairman Of the Board Town North Bank, Farmers Branch Director Credit Union National Association, Inc. Chairman American Association of Credit Union League Executives* *Mr. Eaker received AACULE’s prestigious Eagle Award for his outstanding service as Chairman of the association and his extensive leadership roles in the national credit union organizations Chairman CUNA Information Systems Task Force Member Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas Advisory Committee of Financial Institutions Board Member Texas Consumer Association He was an active leader in his community, serving as President Richardson Junior Chamber of Commerce President Richardson Jaycees President Richardson Parent-Teacher Association He and Connie were members of the First United Methodist Church of McKinney. Jack was a lifelong outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman. He was a dog breeder and racer of National Champion Whippets. Dad, Jack, Mr. Eaker, was a remarkable man whose presence, compassion, wisdom, and love touched all who ever had the opportunity to meet and know him.
