J. Reed Robinson was born September 19, 1933 in Sherman, Texas to Clyde Robinson and Mary Rushing Robinson. He passed away from natural causes on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Luling Care Center in Luling, TX at the age of 83.

Reed was a farmer in the Whitewright and Tom Bean area most of his life. He left school in the 6th grade to help his father work the farm and became one of the best and most respected farmers in the Grayson County area. Often times he and his father Clyde held the honor of the 1st bale of cotton or the 1st load of grain for the harvest year. He always got by on what he had to work with and would often build or modify his farm equipment to suit his needs. Other farmers would often come to him to ask for help setting up their equipment for the harvest or planting. He was always proud of his straight rows in the fields as he watched the crops emerge. He is survived by sons, Tom Robinson, and C.W. Robinson and wife Judy all of Whitewright; grandchildren, Afton Smith, Chase and Taylor Robinson; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Joe Robinson of Sherman; sister, Joyce Hames of Whitewright; former-wife, Mary V. Elmore of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Mary Robinson; son, J.R. Robinson; sister, Johnnie Starnes.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, Whitewright, Texas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Bill McFatridge and Rev. Phillip Smith. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Whitewright, Texas. Pallbearers will be Tom Robinson, Taylor Robinson, Steve Robinson, Randy Hames, Kenneth Franklin, and Carl McFatridge.
The family will receive friends during a visitation on Monday, March 6, 2017 from 6-8pm at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Whitewright.
