J. D. Goodman, Jr., age 96, of Fairview, Texas, passed away peacefully at home, October 7, 2008. J. D. was born August 22, 1912, in Avery, Texas, to J. D. and Fannie (Spears) Goodman, Sr. He married Wylma Joyce Ray on November 21, 1940 in Dallas, Texas and she preceded him in death on July 6, 1993. J. D. had five car dealerships which included a Hudson dealership in Oak Cliff, Texas, a Ford dealership in Whitewright, Texas, Moore Automotive in Dallas, Texas, Auto Brokers also in Dallas, and Goodman’s Used Cars in Allen, Texas next to his filling station, Joyce’s Conoco. He was a past member of Allen Lion’s Club, chairman of the board of elders at the First Christian Church of Allen. J.D. was a current member and elder emeritus of Forest Grove Christian Church. J. D. proudly served in the United States Army during World War II (stateside) serving as a medical assistant who cared for the medical needs of prisoners and U. S. soldiers. He is survived by his sons, Steve Goodman and his wife, Dee of Dallas, Texas, Jon D. Goodman and his wife, Anne of Fairview, Texas, and Gail Ray Goodman and his wife, Pamela of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Derrick, Grayson, Ryan, and Raelynn Goodman; great-grandchildren, Alexis Goodman and Breana Shasky; and companion, Shudi Wei. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his sister, Nannie Lee Giles. Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM, Friday, October 10, 2008, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas with Rev. Ken Crawford and Dr. Mike Waco officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Thursday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 6:00 P.M. Thursday evening.
