J. C. Averitt, age 76, of Dallas, Texas, passed away April 11, 2009, in Dallas. Mr. Averitt was born July 26, 1932, in McKinney, Texas, to Cecil and Ruby (Rutledge) Averitt. Mr. Averitt grew up in McKinney and later moved to Ft. Worth, Texas, where he attended schools and joined the United States Air Force where he proudly served for fourteen years. He moved to Dallas in 1972 where he was self-employed. Mr. Averitt was a member of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his aunt, Jessie Miller of DeSoto, Texas; brother, Larry Keatts of Harrisonburg, Virginia; nephews, Alan Keatts of Kingston, Oklahoma and Bruce Keatts of Gunter, Texas; niece, Beth Mills of Scurry, Texas; sister-in-law, Sharon Keatts of Kingston, Texas; and a host of other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at Wilson Chapel Cemetery in Lowry Crossing, Texas with Dr. Danny Buster officiating. The family will receive friends during a visitation one hour prior to the service at the cemetery.
