Je ne sais quoi: a quality that cannot be described or named easily. How do you describe someone as unique as Isabella Preston? Bright, talented, stylish and sweet; she was so special to so many.
Our cherished Izzy was taken to heaven on June 28th, 2023, in Celina, Texas. She was loved by her many family and friends, and her beloved pets. Izzy is survived by her mother Gina Preston, her father David Preston, her brothers Dallas and Noah Preston, her sister-in-law Mona Preston, and by JP Gibson, the love of her life of 6 years and two months. She is also survived by her grandmothers Anna Verkler and Ann Preston, and several uncles, aunts, and cousins: Mitch and Shelly Verkler, Jon and Tabatha Preston, Matt Preston, Anzel, Maddock, and Aspen Preston, Dalton and Sarah Jo Nash, and Dakota and Whitney Nash. Izzy is also survived by her lifelong best friend, and sister by choice, Julia Melo.
Izzy attended elementary and middle school in Frisco, Texas before her family moved to San Antonio. She was a 2018 graduate of Alamo Heights High School, and was a Symphony Belle and a member of the National Charity League. She went on to graduate from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2022 summa cum laude, before moving out to Boston to work in fashion merchandising for the Rue Gilt Groupe. She loved her job and was so proud to have created a life and a home with JP and ‘the girls’.
Izzy had the joie de vie; she lived a joyful life and she was a joy in the lives of her family and friends. A full and giving heart, Izzy was always thinking of others, whether it was a hand-written note or cooking up one of her homemade specialties for them. As a teenager, she made the decision to become an organ donor and gave the gift of life, helping more than fifty others in desperate need.
Izzy was never happier than when she was traveling and exploring new worlds and, of course, finding all the best dining and shopping. She was often asked to plan trips for others, since she had seen so much of the world and loved to share the joy of the journey. Her all-time favorite was Paris, where her love of baking began. Izzy also loved game nights with family and friends and was always looking forward to those special times with ‘the brothers’. Some of her fondest memories were at Nana’s house by the river with her loving family.
While her light is a little dimmer on earth, we know it shines brightly in heaven.
Izzy had a lifelong love of animals. Her family would love for memorials to be made to the Dumb Friends League Animal Rescue in Denver, Colorado (www.ddfl.org).
