Miller, Irene

Irene Leone Hedges-Miller

December 15, 1923 - November 29, 2019

Irene Miller of McKinney, Texas passed away peacefully on November 29, 2019 at the age of 95. She was born on December 15, 1923 in St. Louis, Missouri. Irene, known to some as “Rene,” but to most as “MiMi,” went to Heaven just 16 days shy of her 96th birthday. While growing up in Missouri, she was an entrepreneur owning many businesses including a hair salon, funeral home, trailer parks, and even an Ethan Allen furniture store. She was a rare gem with a fun and humorous spirit who called everyone “Kid,” regardless of their age.

Irene lived a long and active life enjoying bird watching, flower gardening, quilting, playing golf and piano, watching Wheel of Fortune and drinking a margarita or two with family and friends. Unfortunately, she never made it on Wheel of Fortune nor won the Publisher’s Clearing House, as she had planned.

Her advice to all was, “Laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone” and, “It’s hell to get old!”

She is now singing hymns and dancing in Heaven with many of her loved ones.

Because of her great love of children, donations can be made on Irene’s behalf to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children or Make a Wish, North Texas.

Sarah Btoach, December 9, 2019 Irene had already planted beautiful flowers around my mailbox before I can say I knew her well. Irene made our neighborhood in McKinney... neighborly. I will miss Irene. Brian & Christina Voss, December 3, 2019 Joni, Remington, Maci & Lars... We feel so blessed that we were able to know Mimi. She had such a dramatic personality and you knew you had a friend when she called you "kid." Her zest for life, the twinkle in her eyes, and her infectious smile all leave such wonderful memories. You could alway tell what a wonderful Mimi she was by your devotion and kindness to her. She so loved you and you will always have her footprints in your heart. Sending our love and sympathy!
Marci & Keith, December 2, 2019 Loved Aunt Irene's energy... and her always "positive" force. A great influence during 95 years on earth, and now eternity ahead. Jeff & Tara Powers, December 2, 2019 She was quite the character. So funny. She will be missed. Sally and Doug Meadows, December 2, 2019 We have many fond memories of Aunt Irene, who was my mom's older sister. We were lucky enough to spend extra time with her while she lived in Nixa. She loved her flowers and had a great gift of gab. She will be missed by all of our family!! Lori and Don Johnson, December 2, 2019 Have fun on those pretty streets of gold!
