Irene L. Brown

Irene L. Brown of Allen, Texas passed away November 26, 2016, at the age of 80.  She was born November 7, 1936, to Gerald Lamb Stewart and Afton Mildred (Linck) Stewart in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Irene attended University of Nevada at Reno.  She married James “Jim” Nicholas Brown on May 1, 1962, in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Irene was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Allen 4th Ward, Allen, Texas Stake.  Irene served faithfully in many church callings and was known for her compassionate service to others.  She loved to travel, cook, watch her Dallas Cowboys, and spend time with her friends and family.  She especially loved Christmas.  Irene took great pride in always looking her best. She will always be remembered for her wonderful smile, kindness, and giving spirit. Irene will always be admired for her strong enduring attitude as she faced many health challenges in recent years.  

She is survived by her husband, James “Jim” Brown of Allen, Texas; children, Dean A. Brown (Rebecca) of Winnsboro, Texas, Eric J. Brown (Tiffany) of Coppell, Texas, and Stephanie L. Johnson (Tim) of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Dustin Brown (Christina) of McKinney, Texas; Shelby Brown of Carrollton, Texas, Heather Guffey (Edwin) of Anna, Texas, Lorin Sebo (Troy) of Irving, Texas, Nicholas Brown (Lucy) of Bedford, Texas, Christian Anderson of Coppell, Texas, and Connor Johnson of Allen, Texas; five great-grandchildren; and siblings, Gary L. Stewart (Connie) of Henderson, Nevada, Myrna Ann Marsh (Bill) of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Rosolyn Shaw (Chandis) of St. George, Utah.

Irene was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Tyler Johnson, Cody Johnson, and Timothy Johnson, Jr. and parents, Gerald and Mildred Stewart.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 1, 2016, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 651 Stacy Road, Fairview, Texas 75069.  Interment is to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.  The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
