Ignacio José Olivarri

Ignacio José Olivarri passed away November 29, 2023 in Allen, Texas at the age of 87. He was born to Jesus M. Olivarri and Tomasa Schultz on April 12, 1936 in San Antonio, Texas.

José joined the United States Air Force and helped during the Vietnamese War as a cryptologic linguist. He served in countries such as Japan, Korea, Vietnam, the Philippines, and other bases in the Pacific. During his early military career, he was blessed with his daughter Norma and son Michael. While stationed in Colorado Springs he met his wife Martha, and they married in 1973 and have been together ever since. While in Colorado at the Air Force Academy, José and Martha were blessed with their son Mario and daughter Leila. José’s service took him to Florida, where he finished his honorable service to our country.

The family moved to San Antonio for a short time before moving to N. Texas where José worked for Tektronix for over 20 years, working in the military division, before he retired in 2000. In retirement, José spent his years with his grandchildren and time with family. José worked hard his whole life to provide the best he could for his family. José enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son and family. For over 40 years José was an active member of St. Jude Catholic Church. At 12 o’clock Mass on Sundays, José could be found at St Jude.

José is survived by his wife, Martha Olivarri of Allen, Texas; daughter, Norma Delgado of Denton, Texas; son, Michael Olivarri of Denton, Texas; son, Mario Olivarri of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Leila Olivarri of Princeton, Texas; brother, Jesse Olivarri and wife, Connie of San Antonio, Texas; brother, Edward Olivarri and wife, Yolanda of San Antonio, Texas; numerous grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Tomasa Olivarri.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 15, 2023 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen, Texas. A rosary will be held at 9:20 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
