Huong Kim Icke of McKinney, Texas passed away April 26, 2022 at the age of 71. She was born on January 5, 1951 to Lung Van Nguyen and Tu Thi Tran in Vinh Long, Vietnam. Kim moved to the United States of America in 1971. She worked as an assembly line worker, but her most important work was her children. Kim was a wonderful cook; everyone loved her spring rolls and an exceedingly talented seamstress. She made many of her kids clothing growing up and taught each of them to sew as well. Kim also prepared her kids to be independent and resourceful which led them to succeed in life. She loved gardening and traveling with her long-term friends. Kim most loved helping family later in life and it was her great joy to assist with watching their dogs or any simple needs. She was also like a mother figure to her nieces and nephews who immigrated to the United States from Vietnam. Kim was truly loved by everyone she encountered. She was strong in her faith and a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen, Texas. Kim was recently attending St. Gabriel the Archangel Church in McKinney, Texas with her daughter, Deborah. She will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved her.
Kim is survived by her daughters, Susan Ann Icke of Wylie, Texas, Deborah Elaine Icke of McKinney, Texas, and Jennifer Lynn Steele and husband, Jonathan of Colorado; brothers, Hai Van Nguyen, Loc Tan Nguyen, and Hao Tan Nguyen, all of Vietnam; sisters, Tot Kim Nguyen, Han Ngoc Nguyen, both of Vietnam, and Hoa Kim Nguyen of San Antonio, Texas; her children’s father, Arthur Icke; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Tuoi Van Nguyen.
