Hugh Earl Cooper, age 91, McKinney, Texas peacefully passed on December 30, 2020. Beloved husband of Ruth Ann (Haaser) for 68 years and survived by his children; Linda Weaver (Jeff), Pam Brunk (Jamie), Tina Nelson (Steve), Brian Cooper (Annie), Randy Cooper (Lisa); 12 grandchildren (Jessica, Jill, Jaclyn, Tim, Oliva, Ryan, Aaron, Josh, Kelsey, Logan, Andrea, Kiefer); and 6 great-grandchildren (Cooper, Maggie, Annabelle, Ryanne, Taylee, Ella).

Hugh influenced scores of people in his life, many more than he could imagine. From his early support of his country in the military, to his long career as a fair and trusted operations executive at Canal Barge; his compassion and trust brought out the best in people.

Raised in Hugo, Oklahoma, Hugh enrolled early in the Army to support his country and was stationed in California. Returning to Oklahoma after duty he received his High School degree and subsequently attended college at Murray State College in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. 

In 1952 he married his true love, Ruth Haaser, and they raised five children who all have been successful in their own lives. His professional career provided the opportunity to live in many areas throughout the country which allowed him for touch many people’s lives. Hugh’s quick wit and humorous personality provided happy memories for all.

Given distances and in lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made to assist those impacted by the current pandemic hardships.
