Howard James Wilson of McKinney, Texas passed away on March 3, 2019 at the age of 74. He was born on April 12, 1944 to John W. and Johnnie Mignon (Freeland) Coward in Dallas, Texas. James proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era, and was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany from 1966 until 1968. He attended Dallas Baptist University and later received his Associates Degree from Trinidad State College in Trinidad, Colorado. James married Shirley Trail on April 10, 1971 in Plano, Texas. They moved to Provo, Utah and then to Questa, New Mexico where he graduated from the New Mexico Police Academy. In 1978, they finally settled in North Dallas where he started working for the City Of Dallas. He enjoyed target shooting, fishing and loved researching genealogy in his spare time.
James is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Shirley Trail Wilson of McKinney, Texas; aunts, Mildred Rounds and husband, Jerry of Garland, Texas and Jean Freeland of San Saba, Texas; and numerous other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Johnnie Mignon (Freeland) Coward.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 8, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 970 N. Coit Rd., Prosper, Texas 75078. Interment will follow at Plano Mutual Cemetery in Plano, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.
