IN LOVING MEMORY

Houston Everett Morris

Apr 07 1960 - Mar 23 2021

Houston Everett Morris, age 60, of Plano, Texas passed away on March 23rd, 2021. Houston was born on April 7th, 1960 in Durant, Oklahoma to Travis Houston Morris and Lena Bell (Lambert) Morris.

Houston is survived by his wife, Donita Morris; his children, Rachel Leigh Hollis and Houston Everett Morris II as well as a multitude of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews too many to list here.

Houston graduated from North Mesquite High School in the Class of 1978. He worked at a printing factory in Dallas with his dad before entering the Elevator Industry. On February 2, 1980 he married the love of his life, Donita Gandy.

In 1988, they moved to Southern California when Houston made the jump from Elevator Technician to Management. They took advantage of the locale to see the Pacific Ocean and enjoy the mild climate. In 1992, they moved to Cincinnati, Ohio to keep moving up the corporate ladder. While in Ohio they experienced their first blizzard. In 1996, they moved the small town of Alabaster, Alabama and relished in a slower pace of life.

Then finally in 1998 they moved back to Dallas! Houston and his family were happy to be back in their hometown.

In 2010, Houston and Donita took the plunge into entrepreneurship with their elevator inspection business, Morris Elevator Inspection Incorporated. They thoroughly enjoyed working together.

With the kids grown and out of the house, Houston was able to pursue one of his passions: cars. His Race Family has been a significant part of his life for the past 10 years.

He became a Mason on June 20, 2017 at the Grand Lodge of Texas, East Fork No. 650 of Wylie, Texas.

On Tuesday, March 23rd he was performing an elevator inspection and collapsed. Paramedics were called, but he could not be revived.

He is preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Christopher Todd Hollis.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 28 at 4pm at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas.
