Hila Fae Pepmiller, of Garland, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 17, 2016. She was born in Wheeler, Texas to Frank and Verna Lee (Richardson) Begert. On May 18, 1957, Hila married Paul Edward Pepmiller.
Hila grew up in Canyon, Texas. She graduated from West Texas State University. She received her Master’s Degree from Stephen F. Austin University and another Master’s Degree from Texas Women’s University. Hila was a beloved Kindergarten teacher in Plano Independent School District; and later a school counselor at Davis Elementary. Hila was a breast cancer survivor and started Bosom Buddies, a woman’s breast cancer support group. She volunteered for many years with the American Cancer Society. Hila loved to serve and minister to others. She was a founding member and volunteer for Journey of Hope, a grief support group for children and families.
She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Weise and husband Bill Weise, M.D. of McKinney, Texas, Diana Miller and husband Mark Miller, PHD. of Longview, Texas; son, Paul Bradley Pepmiller; grandchildren, Dr. Will Weise, Hannah Weise, Sarah Weise, Amanda Miller, Andrew Miller and Alyssa Miller; brother, Robert F. Begert; sister-in-law, Anne Begert; many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
Hila is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Verna Lee Begert; husband, Paul E. Pepmiller; and brother, Fred Begert.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 20, 2016 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park.
