Henry Calvin Myrick, Jr. of McKinney, Texas passed away on May 28, 2022 at the age of 96. He was born on August 5, 1925 to Henry Calvin and Ama Catherine (Bridgefarmer) Myrick, Sr. in McKinney Texas. Henry proudly served his country in the United Stated Marine Corp during World War II in the 5th Marine Division on Iwo Jima. He is one of the last surviving Marines from WWII. After World War II, he served as a MP on Okinawa. When he returned to the U.S. he graduated from Southern Methodist University with a degree in accounting and marketing. He married the love of his life Clema Catherine Carroll on July 16, 1962 in Santa Rosa, California.
Henry was a furniture manufacturing representative for more than 30 years. He was also Owner/Founder of Town & Country Home Furnishing in downtown McKinney, TX. In addition, he was a rancher raising Brangus bulls and maintained the Bridgefarmer Ranch on East HWY 380 where his grandfather was a circuit doctor. The Myrick and Bridgefarmer families had numerous farmlands in Collin County where they raised different types of crops for market.
He was raised in and remained a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of McKinney, Texas. He sang many years in the church choir. He was a past President of Kiwanis Club of McKinney and member of the club for over 50 years. He was on the Red Cross board. He volunteered many years with Meals on Wheels and other community service organizations.
Henry is survived by his son, Gary G. Myrick and wife Gina of California; daughter, Donna K. Myrick Bradshaw and husband, Bill of McKinney, Texas; daughter-in-law, Peggy of Lake Fork, Texas; grandchildren, Jennifer Westdyke Culbertson and husband, Eric of Dallas, Texas, Juli Westdyke Lannom of Panama City, Florida, Leslie Tracy of Austin, Texas, Roger Tracy of San Marcos, Texas, and Michael Tracy of Austin, Texas; great grandchildren, Casey Culbertson, Erica Culbertson, Reed Lannom, William Tracy, Oliva Tracy, Lily Tracy, Charlotte Tracy; and many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clema Catherine Myrick; his parents; infant brother; and son, Gary W. Tracy.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at First United Methodist Church 315 North Church Street in McKinney. Interment will follow at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North in Allen.
