Henry "Hank" Richards, Jr.

Hank Richards, age 90, of Fairview, Texas, passed away September 2, 2016.  He was born February 13, 1926, in Pensacola, Florida to Henry Bryant Richards, Sr. and Nora Belle (Byrd) Richards.  On September 10, 1949, Hank married Betty Jean Clements in Montgomery, Alabama.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II.  Hank was of the Presbyterian faith. Hank loved music! He played trumpet in the Auburn University marching band and had the privilege of playing for President Truman's inauguration. He was in choral and the Barbershop Quartet Chorus. He loved to line-dance and enjoyed gardening. International travel was one of his great joys! Having said all of this his greatest joy in life was loving and being loved by his family! 

 

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Richards of Fairview, Texas; children, Kathy Vilas and husband Danny Williams of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Bryant Richards and Tina Thompson of Kerrville, Texas and Beverly Jean Kracher of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Damon Van Buskirk and wife Delta Dawn of Gulfport, Mississippi, Jeremiah Richards of Los Angeles, California, Fernando Vilas and wife Candace of Fort Worth, Texas, Evan Richards of Austin, Texas, Avelina Vilas and Alan Watts of Austin, Texas, Chris Richards and wife Amy of Kerrville, Texas, Leland Kracher of Plano, Texas and Kendahl Kracher of Denton, Texas; great-grandchildren, Skylar Van Buskirk of Denham Springs, Louisiana, James Van Buskirk of Gulfport, Mississippi and Lily Richards of Kerrville, Texas; brother, Jack Richards of New London, Connecticut; many other loving friends and family. 

 

Hank was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Bryant and Nora Belle Richards; sister, Josephine Richards. 

 

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m.,  Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.  The family will receive friends during a visitation being held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
