Helen Fay Brinkley Green was born to Reece Brinkley and Martha Driggers Brinkley on August 27,
1920 in the Grove Hill Community in Fannin County. She passed away October 4th at TMC in
Denison, Texas.
Helen was the 9th child in a family of 10 children. She attended Grove Hill schools thru eighth
grade, and then transferred to Bailey High School. She felt as if she had gone to a large city when
enrolled at school in Bailey. She enjoyed playing high school basketball, especially riding the bus to
the away games. Helen graduated in 1939.
Helen married E. B. “Cotton” Green on October 13, 1940. They had three children, six grand
children and eleven great grandchildren.
Helen was a long time member of the Leonard Assembly go God Church. She loved her family,
church family and many wonderful friends. She was a very friendly person who could carry on a
conversation with anyone. She loved working in her flower bed, and a vegetable garden when she
was younger.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, son Boyd Green, son Don Green, daughter -in-law
Ruby Green, and son-in-law Wayne Flanagan.
She is survived by her daughter, Kay Flanagan of Leonard and daughter-in-law Elaine Green of
Euless. Grandchildren :Sondra (Barry) Crowley of Colleyville, Charles Green of Pottsboro, Bryan
(Lisa) Green of Bonitas Springs, FL, Lavonna (Marty) Mitchell, Craig (Christy) Flanagan, Amber
(Joseph) Johnson all of Leonard.
Helen was a very special lady, and we were blessed to have had her for 100 years.
The family would like to thank Dr. Robin Kent and staff, TMC staff, Heart to Heart Hospice, and TJM
staff for their kindness.
