Helen Turner Dawkins of Dallas, Texas passed away August 5, 2019 at the age of 66. She was born on May 29, 1953 to Robert Elliot Turner and Barbara Elizabeth (Freeman) Turner in New Orleans, Louisiana. Helen grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and she lived in many wonderful cities which included Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Houston, Texas and lastly, Dallas. Helen worked a dedicated career as a labor and delivery nurse for 28 years working at Parkland Hospital and St. Paul Hospital and then, as a traveling labor and delivery nurse throughout Texas and New Mexico. She loved photography, beaches, and cooking. Helen was of the Methodist faith.
Helen is survived by her daughters, Amy Dawkins and April Dawkins, both of Dallas, Texas; son Daniel Dawkins of Lubbock, Texas; grandchildren, Mikayla Dawkins and Elise Dawkins; brothers, Christopher Turner of Princeton, Texas and Timothy Turner of Vancouver, Washington.
She was preceded by her parents and wife, Sandra Shutenhelm.
A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m., Monday, August 12, 2019 at Grace United Methodist Church, 4105 Junius Street, Dallas, Texas 75246. A reception will follow the service.
