Helen Parker Patterson

Helen Parker Patterson, age 85 of Plano, Texas, peacefully passed away on August 27, 2024.

Helen was born in Monroe, North Carolina. From a young age, Helen felt the love of Christ and a passion to be a part of His work. Helen received her BA in Religious Education from Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina then served as Director of Religious Education at First Baptist Church Concord.

When Helen married Matt and moved to Virginia, she focused on making a home and raising a family. She remained very involved with her church in Virginia and then Alabama.

The Patterson’s moved to Plano, Texas in 1976.  Helen and family joined First Baptist Church North, a small mission church meeting at Hughston Elementary School. This small mission became Hunter’s Glen Baptist Church. As a founding member, Helen started Women on Missions, organized outreach programs and led the World Missions Conference.

Helen enjoyed traveling, family gatherings and time with friends.

Helen is survived by her son, Ralph Patterson III of Plano, Texas; her daughter, Avery Lyles of McKinney, Texas; son-in-law, Chuck Lyles of McKinney, Texas; and her beloved grandsons, Parker Capers, Anthony Capers and Matthew Capers. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 51 years, Ralph Matt Patterson Jr.

 A Celebration of Life service in honor of Helen will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 5th, 2024 at Hunter’s Glen Baptist Church located at 4001 Custer Road, Plano, Texas.

The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday, September 4th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine, Jackson-Morrow, located at 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.

Helen’s life touched many. Her strong faith in God, her passion for missions and her intense love for her family and friends will be her legacy.

Memorials may be given to: World Mission Offering - Hunter’s Glen Baptist Church.
