IN LOVING MEMORY

Helen Louise Redwine

Feb 28 1927 - Oct 09 2017

Helen Louise Houser Redwine passed from this earthly life peacefully after 90 rich and full years. She was affectionately known as Eze most of her life until her first grandchild named her Mama Eze. She was the first of three daughters born to Virginia Needham Houser and Robert Lee Houser at the Needham family home in Hugo, Oklahoma on February 28, 1927. She lived in Hugo for her first 85 years where she was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church. She attended Christian College in Missouri until the love of her life, James Redwine, returned from serving as a bombardier-navigator in the US Army Air Forces. They married on October 26, 1946 in Hugo. During their marriage, she and James owned Redwine Grocery and later Redwine Real Estate.

Eze found great joy in her family, church activities, golf, community theater, flowers, and being a lifetime member of Mother’s Inter SE Club. She also enjoyed world travel, reading, shopping and keeping up to date with local and world events. She was happiest when she was busy. Her home served as the hub for many holiday gatherings.

She and James were married for 63 years until James passed away in May 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Jean Houser Smith.

She moved to Plano, Texas in 2012 to be closer to her sons and their families. She made many close friends and lead a busy life at the Conservatory Senior Living in Plano.

Those left to cherish memories of her are her sister, Jannie Clark of Plymouth, MI; sons, Jim and wife, Gloria of McKinney, TX; Gary and wife, Shauna of Dallas, TX; and Kevin and wife Lynn of Tulsa, OK. She is also survived by five beloved grandchildren, Jon Redwine (Bonnie), Paige Redwine Peel (James), Blake Redwine (Leila), Holt Redwine (Madison), and Rob Redwine (Andrea) and one great grandchild, Katherine Joy Peel and another on the way. She also has a niece and several nephews plus many extended family and many friends.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Hugo, OK on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 2:00 pm. The family suggests that gifts of remembrance be considered for First Presbyterian Church, 219 East Jackson St., Hugo, OK 74743.
