Helen Carol Lasiter of Plano, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026, at the age of 86. She was born on June 28, 1940, to Esther and Noel Miller in Trenton, Texas, where she lived with her 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
She met her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Tommy Earl Lasiter, and they were married on August 8, 1957. She passed one day after their 69th Wedding Anniversary. Right after graduating, Helen went to Beauty School, where she earned her beautician’s license. Helen worked as a beautician at several beauty shops in Plano before she and Tommy added an actual salon in their house. .
Helen was such a people-person and loved being able to continue doing hair from home, while also dedicating herself wholeheartedly to her husband and three wonderful children, Kim, Tim and Paige. She was a proud Planoite, having been one of the first members of the community, when she and Tommy Earl had their house built there in 1964. She was fortunate enough to pass away at that home, listening to her favorite country music by George Strait.
Affectionately known as “Gammie” to her family and “Queenie” to everyone who knew her, Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved to do hair and attended many beauty conferences, loved attending local restaurants around Plano and Dallas back in the day, eating, dancing and listening to live music. She also loved to travel, go boating & spend weekends at Lake Texoma, where she & Tommy owned a cabin for many years. Their lives mostly revolved around sporting events for their kids and grandkids. They could be seen at every football, baseball, basketball, soccer, cheerleading or drill team event their family participated in for 60 plus years, from PSA to PSHS, PWSH and even college teams.
Helen was the proudest and best grandmother to her four grandchildren, Brittany, Taylor, Jordan and Tori, babysitting them for the first few years of their lives. She cherished her family deeply and could always be counted on for everything. She attended every family game, event and function, proudly supporting and celebrating all her kids, grandkids and their friends. She was known as everyone’s “second mom”, as is apparent from the many Facebook posts and messages she received. Everyone loved Helen Lasiter for her fun, bubbly, jubilant, energetic, loving, caring personality! And it didn’t hurt that she was always willing to get up at midnight and cook all of your friends a midnight snack or full meal just because you called and said you were coming over. Her door was always open to anyone at any time of day for a hot meal or a big ol’ glass of sweet iced tea!!!
Helen leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and countless cherished memories. She will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, her unwavering support of her family, and the special place she held in the hearts of all who knew her. She had the most beautiful blue eyes, the most magnetic smile and the hugest heart ever. She always had a hug, a kiss, and a word of encouragement for anyone that needed it.
She is survived by her son, Tim Lasiter of Plano, Texas; daughters, Kim Welch and Paige Lasiter of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Brittany Garrett, Taylor Lasiter, his wife, Alexandra Lasiter, Jordan Cota, her husband, Matthew Cota, and Tori Lasiter; sister, JoAnn Hayes; 3 grand-dogs, Kobe, Bodi and MoMo, numerous nieces and nephews, and other loving family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Earl Lasiter; parents, Noel Miller and Esther Miller; siblings, Paul Wilson Miller, Ray Miller, Larry Mack Miller, Christine Earwood, Joy Mammen, and Earl Miller.
The family will receive friends and family during a Visitation/Celebration of Life on Tuesday evening, August 18, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
