Helen Broadwell Beene

Helen Broadwell Beene, age 89, of Tomball, Texas, passed away August 23, 2008 in Tomball. Helen was born in Roscoe, Texas in 1919. She graduated from Roscoe High School and went on to graduate from Hardin Simmons University with both undergraduate and graduate degrees. Her teaching career began in Aspermont and Snyder, and Anson where she taught for several years before the family moved to Odessa in 1957. There she continued being a wife, mother and cheerleader for Mike and Sharon’s athletic and academic activities while continuing her teaching career which lasted 43 years. While being a wife, mother and teacher, she had time to participate in organizations such as Delta Kappa Gamma and Daughters of the American Revolution. Her priority in life was family and she was the constant support system for all family members who needed her love and nurturing attention. She was truly a mother and friend in all things to everyone who knew her. She recognized the good times spent with family and her favorite saying when together was “These are good days” – and they were. She is survived by her daughter: Sharon Love Beavers and husband Richard of Spring, TX; grandson, Richard Blake Beavers and his wife Katie; and great-grandchildren, Brennan, Kendall, Karis, and Kaitlyn; granddaughter, Brittany Love Stover and husband Ryan of Norman, OK; great-grandchildren, London, Lilly, and Sadie Elizabeth; son: Tommy Michael Beene and wife Linda of McKinney, TX; granddaughters: Emily Anne and Meredith Claire; brother, Alroy Jennings Broadwell of Odessa, TX; and sister, Lora Mae Pollard and husband Bill Pollard of Big Spring, TX. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Tommy Howard Beene; her brother, Richard Eugene Broadwell; and her sister, Peggy Jean Johnson. Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM, Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Rev. Donna Whitehead officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
