Hazel Marie Godwin of Princeton, Texas passed away February 3, 2022 at the age of 92. She was born on February 16, 1929 to Oscar Williams and Martha (Seals) Williams in Chambersville, Texas. Hazel married the late Louis Wilbur “Wib” Godwin on July 18, 1945 in McKinney, Texas and they enjoyed 63 years of marriage before his passing in 2008 shortly before their anniversary. She enjoyed her position as a seamstress at the historic Haggar Clothing Company in McKinney. Hazel loved to go “garage saling” and shopping the Blue Light Specials at Kmart. She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with special fun that included chasing them with crawdaddies which held a special place in her heart. Hazel was a member of First Baptist Church in Princeton. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.
Hazel is survived by her son, Donny Godwin of Princeton, Texas; grandchildren, Gail Rushing and husband, Jeff, Jennifer Boatwright, Ashley Wilkins, Judy Shores and husband, John, Christy Martin and husband, Brandon, Ashley Godbey, and Angie Wood and fiancé, Clint Carson; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; daughter-in-law, Lori of Garland, Texas; and a host of other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wib Godwin; son, Richard Godwin; daughter-in-law, Vickie Godwin; grandchild, Jason Godwin; parents; brother and sisters, Wanda Raines, Blackie Williams, Butch Williams, Pansy Roundtree and J.D. Williams
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
The family will receive family and friends during a visitation on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
