Hazel Enloe Long

Jul 09 1919 - Jan 17 2007

Hazel, as she was known to most, passed away January 17, 2007 in Allen, Texas. She was born July 10, 1919 in Allen just South of Bolin School Rd. at Bolin Drive on the farm homesteaded by her Grandfather John Houston Ballew before the Civil War. Along with being a life long resident of the Allen community, she was a member, from childhood of the First Baptist Church of Allen, following her mother, father, and grandmother, Sarah Spurgin Ballew who was a Charter member of that church in 1879. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester E. Ballew, Sr. and Ollie Brooks Ballew, her husband John L. Enloe, of Allen and later in life her husband J. B. Long, of Allen. She is survived by two sons, Jonnie Enloe and wife Gail, of Longview, Frankie Enloe and wife Denise of Kerrville, six grandchildren, Stacy Spears and husband Bradley of Longview, Denise Bell and husband Derek of Plano, Adam Enloe and wife Marcolyn of Allen, John Enloe of Kerrville, Tanner Enloe of Kerrville, Andrelyn Enloe of Kerrville, Jackson Enloe of Kerrville and three great grandchildren, Kirsten Allums of Longview, Jackson Bell of Plano and Gavin Enloe of Allen. She is further survived by her sister Azza Lee Sullivan of McKinney, a brother Lester E. Ballew, Jr. and wife Johnnie of McKinney, and sister Bettye Sue Smith of Fordyce, Arkansas. Hazel, as she wished to be known and was known by everyone, believed in God and Christ her Savior. She survived Typhoid Fever in 1926 along with her father. She was a housewife and above all, mother whose main purpose in life was to take care of her family. She was a voracious reader and in the last sixteen years, read the Bible completely through fifteen times, with only her health preventing her continued Bible reading. She said that her greatest accomplishment was to see her sons grow into God fearing men. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow in Allen. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home Friday, January 19, 2007 at 7:00. Her stated wishes were to have a simple graveside service, which will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 20, 2007 at Ridgeview Memorial Park on North Central Expressway in Allen. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Library of the First Baptist Church of Allen.
