Hazel Johnson, longtime resident of McKinney, Texas passed away June 3, 2023 at the age of 91. She was born on March 6, 1932 to Clemon White and Cora (Henry) White in Oakwood, Texas. Hazel was a graduate of McKinney High School. She married Jimmie Lee Johnson on December 4, 1954 in McKinney and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage before his passing in 2015. Hazel worked for Bank Texas in McKinney and retired in 1996 after 17 years of dedicated service. She was a devoted member of St. James CME Church in McKinney. Hazel was also a 9-year member of McKinney Country Club. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Hazel will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, Melvin Johnson of McKinney, Texas, Claudia Johnson Barkins of Garland, Texas, Gary Johnson and wife, Patricia of San Diego, California, and Mary Johnson of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Keyashia Barkins Grissom and husband, Cortney, Michael Barkins, II, and KeSean Johnson; great-grandchild, Alexander Grissom; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Johnson; daughter, Alta Marie Johnson; and parents, Clemon and Cora White.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 920 14th Street, Plano, Texas 75074. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service.
The family will receive guests during a visitation on Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
