Hazel Jean (Golden) Williams of Allen, Texas passed away on December 31, 2017 at the age of 82. She was born on October 7, 1935 to Henry Golden and Justine Polk in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. She attended Peake High School where she graduated in1954 as Salutatorian of her class. Upon graduation, she was offered a full academic scholarship to Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, but due to unforeseen circumstances, she was unable to attend. Hazel met and married James L. Williams on January 9,1956. James was a member of the United States Air Force and later the United States Army. The two traveled to numerous countries around the world including Germany, Switzerland, France, and Japan. Hazel was a member of Tate Temple C.O.G.I.C. in Arkadelphia where she served as church secretary for many years. She also cherished working at Baptist Health Medical Center as a nurse’s assistant where she showered her patients with the gentle compassion she was well known for. In later years, Hazel relocated to California before making her final home Allen,Texas.
Hazel is survived by her son, Ronald Louis Williams and wife, Tammera of Dallas, Texas; daughters, Leilani Banks and husband, Kenneth of Allen, Texas, Phyllis Smith and husband, Benjamin of Little Elm, Texas; grandchildren, Rachel Tucker, Jennifer Marks and husband, Jaranimo, Joshua Williams and wife, Kimberly, Kellie Banks, Kenneth Easton Banks and wife, Kara, James Banks, Philip Banks, Daniel Williams and Danielle Williams; several great-grandchildren; nieces, Patricia Wilson, Darlyne Taylor; and numerous other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert Louis Golden, Billy McCoy, Joe McCoy, Morris McCoy, Eli McCoy; and sister, Betty McCoy Lee.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
