Harold Maurice Mims, M.D.

December 18, 1925 - January 6, 2019

Dr. Mims was born in Hephzibah, GA on December 18, 1925 and entered heaven to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on January 6, 2019.  God gifted him to be an outstanding diagnostician and skilled surgeon providing hundreds of pro bono cases because of his compassion and love of people.  He marveled at the intricacies of the creation of the human body.  Dr. Mims served in the U.S. Navy in WWII reaching the rank of Ensign.  Following discharge, he subsequently served as a Captain in the Army and was Chief of General Surgery at the 5th General Hospital for Eucom (United States European Command) at the age of 29. Two of the most significant events in his life are as follows.  First, a God-given repentance and faith to believe the good news of redemption through the inimitable blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ for the sin of the world.  Jesus Christ is the resurrected redeemer available to all mankind.  The second was his 63-year marriage to his beloved Shirley, who preceded him into glory in 2013.  They were blessed with five children:  Margaret Anne, Karen Sue, Jeffrey Harold, Amy Louise and Jonathan Baxley.  He taught his children the value of hard work, contentment, integrity, precision, the pursuit of excellence and about our awesome God.   Dr. Mims is survived by his children and their spouses, eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Believers Chapel, 6420 Churchill Way, Dallas, Texas 75230.

Daddy...I loved you in life...and I love you in death...and because of what God did for us...we are both His. The only difference is your faith is now sight. May the trumpet sound soon! So thankful for a Godly example in both of my parents. We will miss you.
Karen Hummel, January 9, 2019 Our hearts are heavy but our memories are awesome -- the spectrum of living and raising our children and being friends is a treasure - we will miss you dearly dear Harold. You always set the standard for us all, Donna Donna "G'ma" Pierce, January 9, 2019 Dear Mims Family, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your dear loved one, now and in the days to come you will need strength and comfort. The Bible describes God as a Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort at 2 Corinthians 1:3,4. We have a wonderful promise at Revelation 21:4 God will wipe our tears away and death will be no more neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. May God wipe your tears away and the promise to end sickness, pain, and death here on our earth bring you comfort. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Sherry Sherry Weiher , January 9, 2019 I thank God for His marvelous grace demonstrated in the life of my very dear friend. His desire to serve and honor our precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and His Word made an eternal bond between us. He has finished the race well and we soon shall be together forever. This is our blessed Hope. Be sure you join us! Immanuel, Caleb Brinkman Caleb Brinkman, 136 Springlakes Dr., Martinez, GA 30907, January 8, 2019 We are so sad for the loss of Dr. Mims.
