IN LOVING MEMORY

Harold Maurice Mims, M.D.

Dec 18 1925 - Jan 06 2019

Dr. Mims was born in Hephzibah, GA on December 18, 1925 and entered heaven to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on January 6, 2019.  God gifted him to be an outstanding diagnostician and skilled surgeon providing hundreds of pro bono cases because of his compassion and love of people.  He marveled at the intricacies of the creation of the human body.  Dr. Mims served in the U.S. Navy in WWII reaching the rank of Ensign.  Following discharge, he subsequently served as a Captain in the Army and was Chief of General Surgery at the 5th General Hospital for Eucom (United States European Command) at the age of 29. Two of the most significant events in his life are as follows.  First, a God-given repentance and faith to believe the good news of redemption through the inimitable blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ for the sin of the world.  Jesus Christ is the resurrected redeemer available to all mankind.  The second was his 63-year marriage to his beloved Shirley, who preceded him into glory in 2013.  They were blessed with five children:  Margaret Anne, Karen Sue, Jeffrey Harold, Amy Louise and Jonathan Baxley.  He taught his children the value of hard work, contentment, integrity, precision, the pursuit of excellence and about our awesome God.   Dr. Mims is survived by his children and their spouses, eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Believers Chapel, 6420 Churchill Way, Dallas, Texas 75230.
