IN LOVING MEMORY

Harmon “Andy” McDougal

May 10 1938 - Apr 30 2026

Harmon “Andy” McDougal went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 30, 2026, in McKinney, Texas.

Son of Jesy McDougal and Gwendolyn Lincecum (Anderson), Andy was born on May 10, 1938, in Cooper, Texas. Andy spent his formative years in Velasco (now Freeport), Texas. He graduated from Brazosport High School in 1956.

Andy and JoAnn met in 1956 and were married on December 13, 1957, beginning a loving partnership that spanned nearly seven decades. Together they shared a passion for travel and adventure, visiting places such as Scotland, Ireland, the Holy Land, Russia, Spain, Alaska and Northern California with dear friends.  Together they lived in Viernheim, Germany, Beaumont, Texas, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Cypress, Texas, and Montgomery, Texas.

Andy attended Texas A&M University before earning both his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and finally his Master of Business Administration degree from Lamar University in 1965.

In September 1961, Andy was drafted into the United States Army and served in Germany from 1961 to 1963, serving as a combat engineer located near the Fulda River in East Germany.  Andy was honorably discharged in 1963 and spent 5 ½ years in the active reserves.  A proud veteran, he was active in the veterans’ community in Montgomery, Texas, and had the privilege of serving as a chaperone on two World War II Honor Flights to Washington, D.C.

Andy enjoyed a successful career that began at Houston Chemical as a junior Engineer, later promoted to Engineer.  He then transitioned to Chemical Sales at PPG for 17 years and ultimately retired from Georgia Gulf in 2006. His career allowed him to travel extensively around the world, and he formed many lasting friendships with colleagues throughout the years.

A proud Scotsman, Andy deeply valued his Scottish heritage. He and JoAnn traveled to Scotland, where they had the opportunity to connect with the McDougal clan and further explore their family roots.

In retirement, Andy and JoAnn made their home in the Bentwater community in Montgomery, Texas. They treasured time spent with friends through dinner club gatherings, golf, tennis, cards, travel, vintage car meetups with the Gulf Coast Healey Club, as well as their membership and volunteerism with The Light Church.

Andy was endlessly curious and always eager to learn something new. Over the years, he pursued many hobbies, including fishing, bonsai cultivation, scuba diving, golf, travel, genealogy and cars to name a few. A machinist at heart, he spent countless hours restoring vintage cars and participating in Corinthian Vintage racing events alongside his son, Darren.

Andy is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, JoAnn McDougal of McKinney, formerly of Montgomery; his son, Darren McDougal and wife, Trenda of Frisco; his daughter, Karen Larson and husband, Darren of Plano; his cherished grandchildren, Turner McDougal and wife, Haley of Dallas, Luke Larson of Dallas, and Olivia Larson of Plano; his brother, Mike McDougal and wife, Judy of Louisville, Colorado; and his sister, Kay Smith of Jones Creek, Texas.

Andy will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, strong faith, devotion to family, and the many friendships he cultivated throughout his life.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 29, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
