Eva Gwendolyn Summerlin Bush was born January 8, 1933 to Tom and Pauline Pharr Summerlin in Grayson County, Texas. She loved to be called “Gwen”. Gwen married Charles E. “John” Bush on November 23, 1949 in Bonham, Texas. She died Friday, March 25, 2011 at Texas Health Presbyterian – WNJ Hospital in Sherman surrounded by her family whom she adored and loved with all her heart and soul. Gwen was a nurse and so proud and honored to take care of her patients. She worked for Dr. Dean Morgan in Sherman, Texas and numerous nursing homes and also as the Whitewright Elementary School Nurse. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pilot Grove. Gwen was an excellent seamstress and made clothes for her girls and granddaughters. She was a fabulous cook and enjoyed getting her family together around the dining table. She enjoyed gardening, shopping and the lottery. She loved country and gospel music. Most of all, she was a caregiver and loved her God and family. She was an amazing wife, mother, granny and Mimi and friend. She will be missed. Gwen is survived by daughter, Debi Davidson and husband Stephen of Sherman; granddaughters, Amy Shaw and husband Matt of Whitewright; Angie Eads and husband Brent of Whitewright; great-grandchildren, Kelby Shaw, Kendall Shaw, Devin Eads, Lilly Eads, Shelby Eads and Seth Eads; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 61 years, John; daughter, Stephanie Bush; and sister, Jane Copelin. Graveside Services will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, March 28, 2011 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Whitewright, Texas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Don Hollister. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Sunday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Sunday, March 27, 2011 from 3-5pm at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Whitewright, Texas.
