Gurumurthy Kambam Reddi, age 89, passed away February 15, 2025, in Allen, Texas. He was born on June 25, 1935, in Maddilapalem, India, to his loving parents Kambam Rajanna Reddi and Kambam Kunchamma Reddi.
Gurumurthy was raised in India, where he graduated high school in Vizag. He married the love of his life, Sukanya Reddy on September 2, 1966, in Hyderabad, India. Raising their two children, Chandana and Rajiv, brought them joy and countless cherished memories over the years.
Gurumurthy proudly served in the Indian Army for many years and retired with the rank of Major. Following his military career, Gurumurthy moved to the United States. Once again, he entered the workforce at St. Mary’s Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas, and eventually retired from his Security Officer position.
Gurumurthy is survived by his wife, Sukanya Reddy; daughter, Chandana Reddy and son-in-law, Praveen Reddy, of Allen, Texas; son, Rajiv Reddy, and daughter-in-law, Neeraja Reddy, of Lake Mary, Florida; grandsons, Amogh Reddy and Anshul Reddy, of Allen, Texas; granddaughters, Sriya Reddy and Sanvi Reddy, of Lake Mary, Florida; and many extended family members and friends, who will forever keep his memory in their hearts.
Gurumurthy was preceded in death by his parents, Kambam Rajanna Reddi and Kambam Kunchamma; brother, K. L. Reddi; sister-in-law, Kambam Rajyalaxmi Reddi; brothers, Kambam Ram Reddi and Kambam Krishna Reddi; and sisters, Belanna Suryakantham Reddi and Poothi Jaya Reddi.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The service will also be live streamed at the following link: https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/gurumurthy-reddi. After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location. Following the funeral, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Crematory for the Ceremonial Cremation.
The family will receive guests during a visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, at the funeral home.
