Gumecinda Diaz of McKinney, Texas passed away September 17, 2021 at the age of 70. She was born March 16, 1951 to Presiliano Gonzales and Amparo (Cantu) Gonzales in Brownsville, Texas. Gumecinda married the late Tomas Diaz on July 6, 1968 in McKinney and they enjoyed nearly 40 years of marriage before his passing in May 0f 2008. She worked as an assembler for Quest Medical in Allen, Texas for many years. Gumecinda was a devoted member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in McKinney. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Gumecinda is survived by her children, Thomas Diaz, Jr. and wife, Elsa, Gracie Diaz; Leticia Diaz and partner, Lori Gilmore, Veronica Thornton and husband, Frank, all of McKinney, Texas, and Vanessa Diaz and Rolando Alvear of Princeton, Texas; eleven grandchildren, Lauren Diaz, Cyndi Rosales and Danny Gonzalez, Shawn Diaz, Marissa Diaz, Dayza Diaz and Juni Martinez, Cristian Cruz, Aalieah Rivas, Armani Thornton, Jose Trevino, Esteban Trevino, and Marisa Barrera; five great-grandchildren, Aria Williamson, Noah DeKruger, Luca DeKruger, Jaynessa Diaz, Julianna Martinez, and Aliyah Gonzalez; brother, Presiliano Gonzales, Jr. of McKinney, Texas; sisters, Diana Dower of McKinney, Texas and Esmeralda Salazar of Kingsville, Texas; and a host of other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tomas Diaz; parents; and sister, Mary Guerra.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The service will be live streamed at the following link; https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/gumecinda-diaz. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service. Masks will be required for both the service and visitation at the family’s request.
The family will receive family and friends during a visitation on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rosary service to begin at 7:00 p.m.
