Guangwei Fang passed away January 7, 2022 in Allen, Texas at the age of 89. He was born in China February 8, 1932. Guangwei graduated from Shan Dong University in 1952 with a degree in chemical engineering. He entered public service as the Vice Mayor of Shan Dong province in Yan Tai City. He served for 10 years from 1990-2000. In 2000, Guangwei retired and enjoyed his retirement. He played violin and attended church every Sunday. In 2012, Guangwei lost his wife of about 50 years. Together they raised their 2 daughters, Linda Zhaoxu Fang and Zhao Hong Fang. Guangwei loved his family. He was a great cook and loved to read. Guangwei was a very caring father. He had his way of doing things and knew those to be the best and only way. He always kept his surroundings neat and orderly. Guangwei was always learning. His latest joy was getting to learn the iPhone. His desire to learn even stretched to learning how to drive at almost 90 years old. Guangwei loved taking care of things. This was proved by his love of animals and the care he took in his garden.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda Zhaoxu Fang and husband Danny Zhi Yong Liu of the Dominican Republic; daughter, Zhao Hong Fang and husband, David Harrison of Allen, Texas; grandson, Kevin Yang of Allen, Texas; grandson, Felix Liu and wife, Meihui Zhuang of Flushing Meadow, New York; great granddaughter, Elisha Liu of Flushing, New York, three sisters and one brother.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Ming Shan Shao.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
