Gordon Ray Pruett (68) of Princeton, Texas was born to Carolyn Hamilton and Donald Pruett on November 24, 1956 in McKinney, Texas. He passed away with his wife, Teresa, by his side on February 27, 2025. He was preceded in death by Donald Pruett (father), Benjamin “Benji” Hamilton (stepfather), Shane Sides (son), Michael Edwards (son-in-law), and JoDee Strawn (granddaughter).
Gordon is survived by Teresa his wife of 23 years, mother, Carolyn Hamilton; daughter, Amy Shewmake and husband, Ben of Princeton; son, Jamie Pruett and wife, Sydney of Anna; son, Max Strawn and wife, Tawnya of Princeton; daughter, Krysta Bates and husband, Kent of Blue Ridge; daughter, Samantha Edwards of Greenville; daughter, Starr Sides of Princeton. Surviving grandchildren are Danielle, Brooke, Trevor, Jase, Jasper, Jackson, Derek, Sara, Haley, Brooke, Skylah, Kayden, Jayda (Princess), and Dylan. Great grandchildren are Dawson, Braxton, Kora, and Saylor. Surviving brothers are Greg Pruett and Gary Marrs, both of Princeton as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
During and following his career as a heavy equipment operator, Gordon greatly enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, hunting, Texas Hold ‘Em Poker, and cooking and grilling outdoors; garnering awards in many activities. He was also active in his community as an auxiliary member of the McKinney VFW and American Legion posts.
He will leave an empty place in all of our hearts and will forever be remembered for his boisterous personality and many robust opinions.
The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening, March 6, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
