IN LOVING MEMORY

Gordon Delette Swor

Jun 22 1937 - Mar 06 2025

Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done for us through His servant Gordon Delette Swor.

Gordon was born on the 22nd of June, 1937, in St. Louis, Mo. to Athol and Lillian (nee Franck) Swor. He was born again as a child of God in the waters of Holy Baptism as a young child. He was catechized in the Christian faith and confirmed on   the 3rd of February, 1957, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Maplewood, Missouri. His confirmation verse was Matt. 6:33, "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."

He was united in holy marriage to Carole Louise Ludwig on the 9th of May, 1959, also at Concordia Lutheran Church. Carole passed away in Christ on the 9th of June, 2018 after they had just celebrated their 59th anniversary. He loved Carole and his family with all his heart. He also deeply loved his family at Faith Lutheran Church.

Gordon worked in sales for his entire career. Over the years, he was employed by TWA, Simmons Beautyrest and Merico, Inc. In 1986, he and his friend Gordon Hanson started their own business, Benecorp Inc., which they operated until 2005 when they sold the business.

He is survived by his sons, Richard Swor and wife Lisa, Thomas Swor and wife Laura, Matthew Swor and wife Tammy and Joel Swor and wife Amy; grandchildren, Rachel Wells and husband Nathaniel, Nicholas Swor, Caleb Swor and wife Hannah, Sarah Dittmer and husband Micki, Ryan Swor. Preston Swor and wife Zae, McKenzie Dobbs and husband Evan, Claire Swor and Nathan Swor; great grand-children Noah Wells, Bowen Dobbs and Callie Bay Dobbs.

On the 6th of March, 2025, Gordon fell asleep in Jesus, with whom he awaits for the resurrection of all flesh. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." (Psalm 116:15).

The Lord gives and the Lord takes away, blessed be the name of the Lord. We give thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ our Lord, for our brother Gordon Swor.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, March 21, 2025, at Faith Lutheran Church, 1701 East Park Blvd, Plano, Texas 75074.
