Gordon Dale Mize peacefully passed away on December 7, 2021, with his loving wife, Connie Taylor Mize, by his side. They met when she was five years old and he was six years old. This was the typical boy next door story. He was born August 8, 1945, in Bonham, Texas, to Clifton Eugene Mize and Marrlene Marie Lambert. Gordon was blessed with two sons, Brian Mize and Tracy Mize, and one daughter, Virginia Cervantes. He has two loving stepchildren, Stephanie Langston and Charles Edwards. Gordon retired from Vought Aircraft after a successful 43 year career.
Gordon was a proud lifetime member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He belonged to the Brig. General Richard M. Gano Camp, Grapevine, Texas. He loved race cars and was an avid fan of drag racing and top fuel. He loved attending car shows. Gordon was generous to a fault. He gave away more than he ever kept for himself. His joy was in the giving, not receiving.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Mize, one brother, Mark Mize, and one sister, Sherrie Narusis. He was blessed with ten grandchildren, Brandon, Jeremy, Cameron, Seth, Lane, Cassandra, Cecilia, Adrian Jr., Jacob and Ruben, and several great-grandchildren, as well as a very dear friend of over fifty years, Bill Wells.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Marrlene Mize, and one grandson, Michael Mize.
Graveside services will be Monday, December 13, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Cottage Hill Cemetery in Celina, Texas. Services officiated by Bro. Johnny Reed and Jack Bowen, Chaplain, Brig. General Richard M. Gano Camp. Honorary pallbearers are members of SCV.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation for disabled veterans.
