Glynda Walker Burke, age 75, of Allen, Texas, passed away December 5, 2016. Glynda was born November 19, 1941, in Graham, Texas, to James Morris and Edna Frances (Payne) Walker. Glynda grew up in Stephenville, Texas and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler, Texas. She married Al Burke on November 22, 1978. Glynda was employed with Texas Power and Light in Dallas, Texas as the manager of Human Resources and Employee Relations. She was very active in her children’s school activities and was a creative soul. Glynda was a former member of Eldorado Country Club, an annual volunteer at the Byron Nelson Golf Tournament, and enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. She was also a longtime member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen.
She is survived by her husband, Al Burke of Allen, Texas; children, Don Pool and wife, DJ of Fairview, Texas, Jeff Pool of McKinney, Texas, Jackie Davis and husband, Luke of Conway, Arkansas, and Jessica Strack and husband, Jonathon also of Conway; grandchildren, Kaci Pool, Trey Pool, Maddie Pool, Bumper Pool, Harper Pool, Cy Davis, Jackson Strack, Lilly Ren Davis, Grady Strack, Gus Davis, and Graham Strack; brother, Gary Walker and wife, Mary Beth of Shreveport, Louisiana; and nieces, Leigh Bowman also of Shreveport and Kate Raidt of Nashville, Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 10, 2016, at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a remembrance gathering from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital on behalf of Glynda Burke.
