Gloria Judith Alvarez, aged 74, of Allen, Texas, passed away on January 30, 2024. She was born on June 15, 1949, in Guatemala, to Manuel Pineda and Marta Adela Silva. Gloria was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of love, joy, and cherished memories.
Gloria entered into the bonds of matrimony with her loving husband, Angel Alvarez, on June 6, 1970, in Guatemala. Together, they built a life filled with love and commitment, sharing precious moments for over 53 years until Angel's passing. Gloria was a dedicated professional, contributing over 25 years of service at Roosevelt Hospital in Guatemala before relocating to the United States in 1995.
Upon settling in the U.S., Gloria continued to work diligently, serving the community for 15 years at the Ramada Hotel until her well-deserved retirement. Outside of her professional life, Gloria had a passion for shopping at garage sales and swap meets, always on the lookout for unique treasures.
Gloria was known for her vibrant spirit and infectious energy. She was the life of the party, always ready to dance and celebrate life's joys. Her enthusiasm was contagious, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to share in her exuberance.
One of Gloria's greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren. Family gatherings were filled with laughter, love, and the warmth of her nurturing presence. Gloria is survived by her children, Erick Alvarez and fiancée, Ruth Herrera, Wendy Newsome and fiancé, Masud Zafar, and Angel Alvarez and wife, Michelle; daughter-in-law, Connie Alvarez. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Xiomara, Alexis, Erick, Frankie, Randall, Christopher, Timothy, Logan, Erik, and Connor, Ethan, Ronald, Kameron, and Matthew, along with her great-grandchild, Leah Judith.
Gloria leaves behind her sister, Betty Elizabeth Pineda, and a host of other loving family and friends who will cherish the memories of her vibrant personality and caring heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Angel, and their son, Ronald Alvarez.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, February 2, 2024 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
