IN LOVING MEMORY

Glenn Lee Carlin

Dec 14 1937 - Oct 31 2024

Glenn L Carlin, son of Paul and Johnnie Carlin of Houston, passed away suddenly on October 31, 2024, at the age of 86.

He is survived by Phyllis Haynes Carlin, his wife of 25 years, and their beloved cats Sammie and Molly. Glenn also had a daughter, Heather Carlin Alexander of New Braunfels, Texas (husband Lonny), a son, Alan Carlin of Lancaster, Texas, a sister, Donna Carlin McLain of Bryan, Texas, and sister-in-law, Kathy Haynes Beasley of Carrollton, Texas. Glenn was predeceased by his sister Melba Banks and brothers Paul and Don Carlin, as well as his son Gary Carlin. His grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, include Madison Alexander Phelan (husband Cooper) of Kyle, Texas, Joshua Alexander of New Braunfels, Texas, and Ozzie Carlin of Lancaster, Texas. In addition, niece Laura Carlin Higgins (husband Ken) of Pottsboro, Texas and nephew Clint Carlin (wife Michelle) of Houston, Texas. Glenn has numerous other nieces and nephews whom he loved, as well.

The majority of Glenn's professional life was spent in the banking industry. He worked several years for Republic National Bank in Dallas where he achieved the level of Vice President of International Banking Services.

Glenn also had a life-long passion for music and was active in several music groups throughout his life including "the Saints," a 50's men's quartet, various barbershop choruses, Heritage Ranch Chorale, the Brothers 4 men's quartet, and Creekwood Choir of Creekwood United Methodist Church in Fairview, Texas.

In addition to being active in his church, Glenn was an avid sports enthusiast, supporting the Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks, and Dallas Cowboys, as well as attending many nearby Frisco Roughriders games. After moving to the Heritage Ranch (H.R.) community in 2006, Glenn participated in the H.R. Bowling League and Bocce. Glenn also contributed to the Allen community by driving for Meals on Wheels for several years.

Another passion Glenn carried throughout his life was a love for travel. You could mention the possibility of a trip and Glenn was always ready to go. His and Phyllis' many travels included Washington D.C. during cherry blossom season, Mackinac Island in Michigan, the Grand Canyon of Hawaii, Puerta Vallarta and Cozumel, Mexico, as well as visits to Boston, San Diego, San Francisco, Galveston, South Padre Island, Hot Springs in Arkansas, Branson and New York City. Wherever Glenn and Phyllis traveled, they were always on the lookout for a nearby zoo to visit, too.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests considering memorials to any of the following: Creekwood United Methodist Church, Allen Community Outreach (ACO), In-Sync Exotics.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Creekwood United Methodist Church, 261 Country Club Drive, Allen, Texas 75002.
