Glenda Grace Janssen

Glenda Grace Janssen of McKinney, Texas passed away November 25, 2018 at the age of 76.  She was born August 29, 1942 to Ruben and Helen Harjes in Storm Lake, Iowa.  Glenda grew up in Storm Lake and Des Moines, Iowa. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Iowa State University. Glenda married Steven Alden Janssen on September 1, 1962 in Des Moines, Iowa.  She owned and operated All-Star / Special Moments Dance and Cheer Studio in Plano, Texas for over 20 years. She loved her students and watching them grow up in the area. Glenda was an expert genealogist and traveled to Germany and Poland for many years to track the family history back seven generations by going through church records and visiting cemeteries. She also created several online pages to unite family members from across the globe to share genealogical information.

 

Glenda loved spending time with family, traveling, and decorating for all holidays, especially Christmas. She was everyone’s biggest cheerleader and loved her family and friends. Her smile and vibrant personality will be remembered by everyone who met her.

 

Glenda is survived by her husband, Steve Janssen of McKinney, Texas; children, Michel Janssen and wife, Sharon of Fairview, Texas; Michelle Adams and husband, Matthew of Plano, Texas, Tony Janssen and wife, Debbie of Fairview, Texas, and Tim Janssen of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Greg Janssen, Mark Janssen and wife, Gabby, Blake Adams, Brett Adams, Brock Adams, Andy Janssen, Bryan Janssen, Alan Janssen, and Emily Janssen; and brother, Richard Harjes and wife, Jacque of Boulder, Colorado.

 

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Scott Janssen and parents, Ruben and Helen Harjes.

 

A private graveside service will be held at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas with John Richardson officiating.
