IN LOVING MEMORY

Glen Conrad Tolle

May 20 1939 - Jun 09 2021

Glen Conrad Tolle of Plano, Texas passed away June 9, 2021at the age of 82 after a brief illness. He was born May 20, 1939 to Harold and Marguerite (Conrad) Tolle in San Antonio, Texas. Both preceded him in death.

Glen lived in San Antonio throughout his childhood, attending St. Cecilia School before graduating from Central Catholic High School. After graduating from the University of Texas, he was commissioned as an officer into the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during the Vietnam War and was assigned to supervise troops in the Vietnam Mekong Delta region. While there he received the Army Commendation Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device. He received his honorable discharge as a Captain, U.S. Army. Later, after earning his PhD from the University of Houston, Glen became a tenured professor of mechanical engineering at Texas A&M University. He then worked for ExxonMobil until retirement.

Glen was a humanitarian and a friend to all he met, supporting a myriad of organizations throughout his life. He enjoyed playing in softball leagues with co-workers and helped usher in the inaugural season of racing at Texas Motor Speedway where he held season tickets for over two decades. He also loved traveling to other states to attend NASCAR races with family and friends. He excelled at playing bridge and earned the distinction of Bronze Life Master in 2004.

A sentimental man with a heart of gold, Glen lived and cared for animals. He opened his home to dogs and cats (and was often teased about how he treated them as elegantly as he did humans) and could be found feeding not only strays, but rabbits, raccoons, ducks, and birds in the neighborhood. All living creatures knew they could get a hearty meal at the Tolle household!

Recently celebrating 21 years of marriage, Glen and his wife, Ann, were equally at home attending sporting events, theater productions, or black-tie galas. But nothing could replace time spent with family, chatting away for hours, usually over good food and drink.

Glen is survived by his wife, Ann McPeak Tolle; sons, Glen, Michael and Brian Tolle; daughter, Sherri Rast; stepdaughter, Kim Gilstrap; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, as well as numerous other relatives and beloved friends.

Services will be held June 17, 2021 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South in San Antonio. Burial will follow at the adjacent cemetery in the Tolle family plot.
