Glen Ambrose Mears

Glen Ambrose Mears of McKinney, Texas passed away on March 29, 2018.  He was born on October 12, 1924 to Ambrose Martin Mears and Caroline Elizabeth (Sorrels) Mears in Flippin, Arkansas.  Glen grew up in Cushing, Oklahoma and later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he lived for over 50 years. He moved to McKinney, Texas in 2015.  He served his country proudly for 10 years in the United States Army Air Corp and later in the United States Air Force.  Glen served during World War II as well as the Korean War. He was married to Mary Mears for 61 years before her passing in 2008.  One of Glen’s hobbies was finding and restoring old radios.  He was member of the Tulsa Radio Club.     

Glen is survived by his son, Max W. Mears of Edmond, Oklahoma; daughter, Nancy Patterson and husband, Mark of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, David Mears and wife, Lina, Scott Mears, Jennifer Bilawey, Suzanne Masby, and Phillip Bagby and wife, Irene; great-grandchildren, Leonidas Mears and Ava Mears, Tristen and Keller Bagby, and Kaitlyn and Lukas Dean; sisters, Helen Nichols of Virginia, and Joyce Cargill and husband, Dan of Oklahoma; and numerous other nephews, nieces, and cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Mears, three sisters, and two brothers. 

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m.; Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.  Inurnment will follow in Tulsa, Oklahoma at a later date.
