IN LOVING MEMORY

Gladys Rose Parker

May 08 1934 - May 16 2026

Gladys Rose Parker of Plano was born to Condy and Mary Coats on May 8, 1934, in Jackson, Alabama and passed away May 16, 2026, in Plano, Texas at the age of 92, following a brief illness.

Gladys was a great lady of faith with a gentle and humble spirit. She was an independent and handworker for much of her life, working for the State of Oklahoma until she retired, and holding a sundry of part time jobs to supplement her income. She was financially savvy and was able to provide college educations for her 4 children and grandson. She loved yardwork and gardening and took pride in caring for the beauty around her. Additionally, she always looked for ways to improve her health and wellness by reading self-help books. She was known for making the world’s best pound cake and for her delicious Southern cooking. Above all else, Gladys deeply loved her family — especially her 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. To know her was to love her.

Gladys is survived by her sisters, Helen Todd and Harriet Edmonds; brother, James Coats; daughter, Sandra Carleton and husband, Bob of Haslett, Texas; son, James Edwards and wife, Sheryl of Plano, Texas; son, Andre Parker of Plano, Texas; Grandchildren: Stephanie Edwards, Jaymie Benjamin, Kellie Edwards, Shane Edwards, Anthony Parker, Kiley Carleton; and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Condy and Mary Coats; sisters, Lillian Coats and Laverne Kiel; brothers, RC Coats and John Coats; and her daughter, Cathy Edwards.
